We have been doing a long study of Space in our homeschooling. We are almost finished with a biography of astronaut Gus Grissom. I believe he inspired this role playing.

Notice those fabulous Moon Shoes. They really help give the illusion that you are bouncing across the lunar surface. The footwear was a recent thrift store find.

Who knew that the moon was populated with chickens and guineas!?

I’ve been thinking that I should clarify my reference to Gus Grissom. He didn’t walk on the moon. He is best known for being the first astronaut to fly each of the new space capsules (Mercury and Gemini) and for dying during a training session when the capsule caught on fire and the astronauts inside were unable to escape.

We also read a bio of Neil Armstrong a week or two ago- he is the one famous for walking on the moon.

Enjoy the lunar eclipse tonight!

Those are great photos! Yes, the moon is remarkably like the earth in my son’s imagination. 🙂
