Girls’ Weekend July 26, 2007

Fast forward two and a half years from that last picture of Rachel and me gardening.  She’s just as much my shadow, but she especially enjoys the “girly” things associated with being a young lady.

At least once a year, Benjamin and Joe pack up all their camping gear and head out for a weekend away with the Cub Scouts.  Rachel has always stayed behind to do things with me and the time came to be known as Girls’ Weekend.

A few weeks ago, the guys headed out again, so Rachel and I geared up for some special time of our own.  We went shopping- in MANY places Rachel wanted to go look around.  We visited the animal shelter to fawn over all the kittens up for adoption.  (Rachel has a one year old feline named Coco but, as they are apt to do, he went from being a very fun kitten to being an independent cat).  We went to a movie with Grams, Aunt Sheryl, and cousin Kay.  We made jewelry.  And we did LOTS of hair, nails, and make-up.

Here Rachel is sporting a new treasure we found at a thrift shop we like to poke around in.

Here, she soaks up all the kitten love she can.

A shot of the special polka dotted fingernails she chose for this important occasion.

The necklace we made this time-  bling, bling, bling!

And, finally, a close-up of the make-up and fancy hair she got to have on Saturday.

O-oo-o-o-ooo! Your girl’s weekend sounds like so much fun! I can’t wait until my girly-girls are a little older. Rachel is so beautiful. And I LOVE the polka dot nails. 🙂 Seeing Rachel’s hair has inspired me. Maybe I’ll have to curl the ends of Hannah’s hair for church this Sunday.

Hope and I so enjoy taking a girl’s day. We just had one of those fun days yesterday as a matter of fact. Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. Tell Rachel that I LOVED her fingernails!!

grace and peace,

Would you and the kids like to come over for a swim on Tuesday around 1:00pm?
